August 29th, 2018
I am excited to welcome everyone back to a new school year! School staff have been busy getting everything ready for September and we are looking forward to working with our students and families to make this the best school year yet!
I would like to welcome Ms. Sarah Fischer to our staff. Ms. Fischer will be teaching Kindergarten, plus Math and Visual Arts to our older students.
Our gym will be open this Friday, August 31 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm for students to see their class assignments. Representatives from School Council will also be there to welcome families who are new to CPS. Everyone is welcome to attend. Class assignments will also be available on School Day as of 5:00 pm on Friday August 31, 2018.
We are changing our timetable slightly, and second nutrition break will be 30 minutes later than last year, 2:00 – 2:40 pm. This will allow for two large blocks of instructional time and a shorter block at the end of the day. There will be no change to our first nutrition break or to the start or end of the day. Many other schools prefer this timetable and we are looking forward to implementing this as well. Our timetable can be found in your child’s planner, which has been very generously provided to all families at no cost, by School Council.
Our dedicated and committed School Council have been very busy this spring and summer planning for Fun Fair. We would love to see you between 5:00 and 8:00 pm on Thursday September 20, 2018.
Please consider signing up for School Day if you have not already done so. Fun Fair orders, school-wide announcements, and forms and payments for field trips, will be done through School Day.
Parking is very limited at our school and on many occasions, staff have had to park on neighbouring streets. We would love to have space for all volunteers and visitors but unfortunately, we don’t. We would really appreciate if our parking lot could be for staff only. We do understand the inconvenience this causes and we thank you for your cooperation.
In June, we received some valuable feedback on how we can improve our communication. Thank you to all who responded to our survey.
In addition to our focus on student achievement, we would like to continue our work at making CPS the most welcoming, safe, and inclusive school that we can. We look forward to working closely with our school community as partners in our students’ learning journey.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Have a great 2018-2019 school year!
