January 13th, 2019
After a very busy fall we have many wonderful things to celebrate and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting the work that we do at CPS. Since September, we have been learning about gratitude, grit and self-compassion, and through the Umbrella Project in January, we will focus on resilience as we build our umbrella skills.
Once a month I meet with one student representative from each class in my Principal’s Advisory Council. Our next meeting is this Tuesday and the focus of our conversation will be “Safe, Caring, Inclusive and Healthy Schools”. I am very interested in hearing from students what we are doing well and what could be improved. We are also going to be talking about this at School Council on Thursday evening. Please feel free to send me an email at cathy_baer@wrdsb.ca, or give me a call at 519-664-3773, if you would like to share your thoughts on this very important topic.
The next “Coffee with Cathy” will be on Tuesday January 22 at 1:00 pm in the Library. I am very pleased that our Social Worker/Attendance Counselor Neil Graham, will be joining me. All are welcome!
We are very fortunate to have such a supportive and active School Council and we really appreciate the work that they do. For the past few years, council has been fundraising for a new playground. Before Christmas, students and staff suggested possible additions to our current play area. The next step is for a Playground Committee to look through the suggestions and devise a plan that could be implemented over a number of years. Council is currently looking for members to join the Playground Committee and the Fun Fair 2019 Committee. If you are able to help, please email council at council.cps@gmail.com.
Upcoming events are posted on the calendar on our school’s website: https://con.wrdsb.ca/calendar-events/.
It continues to be an honour for me to work with your children every day, to see their growth and celebrate their learning with them!
I want to wish all of you the very best for 2019!
Cathy Baer, Principal
